Our Mission
Dress A Child Around the World is a ministry of CTK that began in 2012. It is made up of a group of 35-70 women from the Bay Area who volunteer their time and efforts to sew new dresses for girls (age 4-14) and shorts for boys (age 6-12). These dresses and shorts are given free of charge to poor, disadvantaged, and/or children affected by disasters in the United States and other countries around the world.
Sewing sessions are held September through June from 9:00 a.m. ‘til 12:30 pm at Christ the King Church Monsignor Wade Hall, 199 Brandon Street, Pleasant Hill.
To date we have completed and sent 10,000 dresses and over 3,000 pairs of shorts to children here in the U.S. and 31 countries worldwide. All the clothing is made from donated fabrics, notions and trims. Approximately half of these clothes are made on sewing machines that have been donated. The other half are sewing machines owned and brought in and used by the volunteers themselves.
