FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ’S)
Placing the envelope in the basket is part of my weekly celebration with my family what should I do?
Special donation cards are available for those enrolled in the Online Giving program which can be dropped in the collection basket.
When can I start Online Donation?
Online giving is available now. Click on the “Online Giving” button below. If you prefer CTK to set this up for you fill out the paper authorization form, enclose in a sealed envelope and drop it in the collection basket. You can also drop it off at the Parish Office.
How does the transaction happen?
Online donations are set up through a third part+y financial services firm. Your information is entered using a PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant website. This provides the highest level of security available. When you click on the Online Giving button, your session opens a secure website to complete the registration process. If you submit a paper form, your information is entered for you into the same system.
What firm are you using to provide this service?
Christ the King Parish is working with Vanco Payment Solutions to host the online giving website. For more information about Vanco go to http://vancopayments.com/about/
Is my information safe?
Yes. Your information is maintained on a secure system. If you enter information through the Online Giving button CTK only sees your contact information and donation. If you submit information through a paper form, this information is entered into the system for you and your forms are stored in a locked file in the office with restricted access.
Is Christ the King the only parish in the Diocese providing automated giving services?
CTK is catching up with most large parishes in the Diocese that have had automated giving programs available to their parishioners for several years.
How can I be assured I get proper credit for tax purposes?
Your donations will still be recorded in CTK’s parish data system so that we can provide annual reports of your contributions. This information will come from your name and address. Your envelope number, if entered, also serves as an “account number” which CTK uses to track your donations.
If I set up automatic payments, can I make changes?
Yes. You can make changes whenever you wish. You may start or stop, change the dollar amount and/or the date of payment. However, the benefit of the program is for ease and consistency so you don’t need to do this often. If you submit a paper form changes can be made by calling the office. Changes will be made within 1 business day.
Can I chose where my payments are allocated?
Yes but for paper forms this is limited. More options are available if you set up your donation online. Examples include Religious Education, St. Vincent DePaul, Catholic Charities, etc.
I get paid on the 15th and the 30th of the month. Is there a way to add a provision for twice monthly giving?
Yes. You can donate twice monthly by setting up two recurring donations with different dates. For example, you could set up one recurring donation that deducts on the 15th and a second recurring donation that is deducted on the 30th to match your pay cycle.
What should I do with the envelopes?
Online Donation compliments the envelope program though once you sign up there will be less of a need for envelopes. You will have the option to use envelopes or Online Donation. For instance, you may choose to make your regular offering an automated donation and use envelopes for the 2nd collection. If you sign up for online giving we will stop mailing envelopes to you but they will still be available in church.
If you use your online banking service please contact us at 925-682-2486 to let us know you no longer need envelopes mailed to you.
Is there a fee for participating?
There is no direct cost to you for participating. The cost to CTK ranges from 0.5% to 3% of your donation to the parish. Savings from envelope printing and mailing offset this cost.
What can I use to prove I made the contribution?
Christ the King provides an annual letter of appreciation which summarizes your contributions. If you set up a profile on the online giving web-site you can print a summary of your contributions.
What is an EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer)?
EFT is an electronic method of making payments in which you authorize CTK to automatically make regular transfers from your checking or savings account to CTK. This is one of the options in the Online Giving program.
